Million-dollar fake shoe haul

Customs officials in Peru have seized shipments of fake tennis shoes, reported to be worth more than $1 million. Press agencies in Lima said the haul included imitations of all the well known international brands.
The customs investigation took place at a group of warehouses in the coastal province of Callao. Officials became suspicious before the shoes reached Peru because the advance shipping notices they received did not tally with information they already held regarding imports of big-brand footwear.
Specialists confirmed that the shoes involved were fake.
