Paris-based designer Pierre Hardy is to create a new footwear collection for The Gap. The shoes, which will include men's and women's shoes, will be on store shelves in Europe before the end of the year.

The president of Gap Europe, former New Look chief executive, Stephen Sunnucks,  said on announcing the deal: “At a time when we are launching in our boutiques the very first collections designed by our own European studio, we are very happy to have the opportunity to collaborate with a world-famous talent like Pierre Hardy, and to offer to our customers his aesthetic vision of Casual Gap.”

In the past Pierre Hardy has created footwear for Christian Dior and Hermès.
