30/08/2007
A factory devoted to excellence in shoe manufaturing that seeks to set new quality and competitiveness standards for the greater good of the industry is expected to begin production before the end of the week.
The Brashoes Centre occupies 4,000 square-metres on a site in Novo Hamburgo and involves the co-operation of 50 companies and 80 workers. The participants in the idea are machinery and equipment manufacturers, component and raw material suppliers, service providers, a university, a shoe factory and the Novo Hamburgo City Council.
GS Consultting, an international consultancy with wide experience in the leather and shoe sector, is also involved.
Brashoes will try out new operation management models as well as applying the dry production philosophy and advanced technologies to obtain production efficiency.
For the first five years, the Brashoes industrial unit will operate under the management of Aveto Lucca, a producer of higher added-value ladies' footwear since 1987.
"At the centre, Aveto Lucca will occupy 1,000 square-metres and is expected to produce 800 pairs of shoes per day," said Julio Seidl, Brashoes director of institutional relations.
Besides a factory equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, Brashoes will also work as a shop-window and business resource for those participating in the project as their goods will be either used in production or demonstrated at spaces especially created to this end.The premises include the industrial area, a canteen and meeting and training rooms.
