Spanish steps

Spain’s national association of companies that produce components and machinery for footwear manufacture (AEC), has announced a programme of promotional initiatives for the second half of this year.

The organisation will sponsor the presence of seven of its member companies at the Trend Selection event in New York on August 28 and 29. AEC said it had been impressed by the event in the past because of its clear commitment to presenting high-quality components to the fashion industry.

In October, it will run a publicity campaign in industry publications that focus on footwear components, and it will assist the presence at Lineapelle of a number of its members.

Other events that AEC members will take part in this autumn are Futurmoda in Alicante, home to the majority of Spanish footwear manufacturers, and Lineapelle Asia in Guanzhou.

The organisation’s spokesperson on foreign trade, María Eugenia Coquillat, said: “Spanish companies are making a great effort to get out into the world to sell their products, and even though we can hardly expect an immediate pay-back, the investment we’re making now will, little by little, take effect in different parts of the world.”
