Wenzhou shoe exports in the first six months top $1 billion

According to official statistics, China’s largest shoe production city, Wenzhou, exported 270 million pairs of shoes in the first half of this year. The value of these exports was $1.083 billion. This represents a 21.74% increase on the comparable figures for last year.

The statistics showed the growth speed was showed slower because the export value had increased 33% averagely in the past 3 years, with affact of appreciation of Renminbi, anti-dumping and enforcement of social responsibility to Wenzhou shoe enterprises.

The local shoe industry association has confirmed that Wenzhou has 2184 shoe-making enterprises.

Domestic sales for these companies have also risen, by 15.07%. The domestic market is now worth $1.49 billion to Wenzhou producers.
