Spotlight on young fashion at Midec

24/07/2007

A special area for young designers will be included at footwear exhibition Midec, which will take place in Paris on September 7-9.

The ‘Imagine’ section will include three areas in which young fashion will be displayed: Rising Stars, Imagine en Duo and Creative Labels.

Rising Stars will feature concepts from six young designers. Federico d’Aboim Inglez will showcase his ‘Serpentine’ sandals, while Julie Pillet will introduce her ‘poetic’ shoes for mothers and daughters made from wood, leather and string. Danish designer Julie Thanning will present fairy footwear—a cross between boots and sandals to ease the transition between winter and summer—while Sandie Jancovek’s ‘Mécanicockets’ will feature jewellery and screws. Tamano Nagashima has designed ‘Caniches’ in pastel silk, while Vesna Brun Popovic will present a new ready-to-wear collection. Guest designer Rustam Adyukov’s couture boots will also be included and will feature embroidery, silk and pearls.

The Imagine en Duo section is a collection of projects from the previous edition’s Rising Stars area, featuring designers such as Fanta Coulibaly & DIM, Moyi Ekolo & Ghostin, Aristine & Karine Dupont and Nicolas Badaya & Yves Desfarge.

Fifteen brands will also appear in the Creative Labels area featuring young designers from across the globe.
