US retailer of brand name footwear, apparel, and accessories Stage Stores, Inc. has appointed David Schwartz to the company’s board of directors, increasing the number of directors to nine. He has been named to the board’s Audit Committee, where he will serve as its chairman, as well as serving on the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.

Mr Schwartz, who currently serves as a business advisor and consultant, spent 35 years with Arthur Andersen, until his retirement in 1997. He is also a member of the board of directors of Foot Locker, Inc., Walgreen Co., and True Value Company.
