Vietnam footwear exports rise 9%

According to the latest figures released by the General Statistics Office, Vietnam exported leather footwear worth $1.488 billion during first five months of 2007 (January-May), up 9.33% from the $1.361 billion reported in the same period last year.
In May alone, footwear exports improved significantly to reach $310 million, compared with $280 million in corresponding month in 2006.Total leather sector exports for the five-month period increased to $1.73 billion from $1.565 billion last year.
