Following the footwear exhibition Juft, held in Lahore, Pakistan, on June 23-24, a number of footwear companies from Bangladesh are looking to establish new joint venture shoe factories in Pakistan.

Senior vice president of the Bangladesh Indenting Agents Association Rafiqul Islam Masum—who attended the fair as part of a six-member delegation—told www.footwearbiz.com that during the visit, his first to the country, he had been impressed by the design and quality of the shoes and that Bangladeshi producers were looking for new opportunities to set up footwear manufacturing facilities in the country in partnership with Pakistani companies.

He said that Bangladesh currently imports ten to twelve 40-foot containers of footwear a month, mainly from China and other Asian countries.
