Disappearing heels from Sheilas’ Wheels
UK-based women-specific car insurer, Sheilas' Wheels, has developed a shoe that could help make driving safer for women without having to compromise on style with its 'Sheila Driving Heel'. The new shoe is said to change from a safe, flat driving shoe to a glamorous pair of heels at the touch of a button.
According to the company’s own research, a high proportion of women are driving in unsafe or, in some cases without, footwear, which can prove extremely dangerous and claims that more than 11.5 million women drivers in the UK put themselves and others at risk by wearing inappropriate footwear when behind the wheel. It also states that 2% of female motorists in Wales admit that they have had a car accident or a 'near-miss' as a result of shoes slipping off or getting stuck between, or under, foot pedals whilst driving, and 32% of all female drivers in Wales confess to wearing flip-flops, whilst 14% claim that they have worn no shoes at all when driving.
