CLIA to hold seminars on anti-dumping duties

12/06/2007

The China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) plans to hold seminars in two of China’s major footwear manufacturing regions in order to inform producers of the implications of the EU anti-dumping duties which were imposed on Chinese-made goods last October, and to discuss the possibility of requesting a review of the situation.

Set to be held in Wenzhou and Quanzhou in the provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian, the seminars will include presentations by CLIA-appointed lawyers who will explain the key points of EU’s anti-dumping laws as well as presenting footwear statistics for 2006, and the effects caused by the legislation.

Although the EU imposed duties of 16.5% on Chinese footwear for a two-year period in October 2006, Chinese manufacturers are considering requesting a review of the policy after one year.
