Fake All Star shoes to be confiscated

25/04/2007

Since 2002, Coopershoes has been the only licensed Brazilian manufacturer of All Star shoes, a trademark owned by Converse Inc., however, the company has been losing substantial revenues each year due to the sale of millions of pairs of counterfeit All Star footwear. An order has now been issued by the Brazilian High Court authorising Coopershoes to take action against the fraudulent use of the brand. This will enable the company to confiscate illegally branded shoes and will also prevent All Star Artigos Esportivos Ltda. from using the brand. Converse’s solicitor Joaquim Eugênio Goulart confirmed that the All Star brand registration certificates illegally held by All Star Artigos Esportivos Ltda. have been declared null and void.
