The Dow Chemical Company has unveiled a new range of lower-yellow-index Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) elastomers, which will be launched under the Pellethane brand by the end of 2007. The new products are said to offer “best-in-class” colour performance, and deliver significant aesthetic, weather resistance and processing benefits.

Combining clarity, abrasion resistance, tensile strength, chemical resistance and a high level of processability the new elastomers are said to provide increased colour consistency of the final fabricated parts, cost savings through the reduced need for UV stabiliser, a higher level of weather resistance and improved thermal stability for higher-heat applications as well as those that use regrind.

They have been designed for a variety of applications including footwear, consumer moulded goods, and packaging.
