Pakistan’s footwear exports improve

23/03/2007

Pakistan’s footwear exports improved 12.38% month-on-month in February to reach $8.677 million, compared with the $7.721 million reported in January.

However, in spite of this upward trend, for the first eight months of the fiscal year (July 2006 to February 2007) exports are still falling far short of the figures reported in the prior year. For the eight-month period footwear exports slipped 18,08% to 9,110,000 pairs worth $73.622 million (which included leather footwear worth $62.622 million, canvas footwear worth $1.469 million and other footwear worth $9.531 million) compared with 11,497,000 pairs valued at $89.867 million in same period a year earlier.
