West Coast changes premises

Brazilian shoe manufacturer West Coast is to move to new larger premises by July. Production, which currently takes place at three separate units, will move to a new 6,215m² facility, providing a 20% increase in production and 25% growth in infrastructure.

The West Coast and Cravo & Canela brand owner rejected several incentive proposals from various Brazilian states and the Argentinean government in favour of a proposal made by the Ivoti Municipality, allowing it to remain in the town where its labour force is already based.

The company expects growth to continue at the current average rate of 20% per year having recorded turnover of R$120 million ($57.8 million) in 2006. It produces 10,000 pairs of ladies' and men's shoes each day and provides direct employment to 350 people.
