New SIBS polymer grade from Kraton

US-based performance polymer producer Kraton Polymers LLC has launched its new SIBS (Styrene-Isoprene-Butadiene-Styrene) polymer for use in hot melt adhesive labels. The new grade has been designed specifically for label applications and is said to have excellent adhesive properties with a balance of tack, peel, shear adhesion and resistance to flagging. It is compatible both with isoprene- and butadiene-based styrenic block copolymers (SBCs) and therefore can also be used in combination with SB diblock.

High diblock content and the polymer structure make it easier to convert into labels. It is compatible with a range of formulating ingredients including tackifying resins, plasticisers, fillers and additives.

The company claims to be the world's largest producer of SBCs, highly engineered thermoplastic elastomers. SBCs can enhance the performance of products by adding greater flexibility, resilience, strength, durability and processability. Product applications include footwear, adhesives and coatings, among others.
