Call for papers for Calzatecnia 2007

The organisers of the 29th International Conference on Technology in the Footwear Industry, Calzatecnia 2007, to be held in Leon, Mexico, on August 17-18, are now requesting submissions for presentations on the theme of ‘Proposals of Value in Real Time’ from interested suppliers, footwear manufacturers, innovators, academics, researchers and the general public.

Principal themes at the conference will include:

• Making proposals of value: customised footwear; the organisation of market knowledge, new forms of commercialisation, and knowledge of client management.

• Leading markets: fashion in the footwear value chain, cycles of current fashion, competitive knowledge management, expert forecasts and demand forecasts.

• Conquering the market (the woman in the supply chain): academic works on the footwear industry for women, the role of women workers in the making of footwear, women as a sales force, the women's footwear market in full expansion.

• Innovative products: the importance of design, new materials, standards and norms, models of calculating cost, and the unique proposals of the creation processes and collaborative design.

• Reorganisation of the supply chain: supply chain management, efficiency tests, management of sales orders, collaborative work, production management, optimisation of flows and inventories, inventory and maintenance, distribution resource planning, vendor managed inventory, partner relationship management, employee relationship management, and finance management for micro, small, and medium enterprises.

Executive summaries as well as complete work papers can be written in English or Spanish. Conference speakers will prepare a presentation of a maximum time of 25 minutes, with a five minute period for questions. Those interested in giving presentations should submit a proposal/executive summary of approximately 300 words by email to calzatecnia@ciatec.mx.
