Sales increase at Genesco

US specialty retailer of footwear, headwear and accessories Genesco Inc. has reported improved sales for the fourth quarter and the full year of fiscal 2007, ended February 3

Net sales for the 14-week quarter increased 17% to $476.9 million, compared with $406.3 million for the comparable 13-week quarter of fiscal 2006, whilst net sales for the 53-week fiscal year increased 14% to reach $1.5 billion from $1.3 billion in the prior year.

Commenting on the results, chairman and CEO Hal Pennington, said, "The Journeys Group, Johnston & Murphy Group and Dockers all outperformed expectations, although Underground Station Group and Hat World Group were affected by the ongoing softness in the urban market.”

Genesco sells footwear, headwear and accessories in more than 2,000 retail stores in the United States and Canada.
