Sales at Geox rise 35%

Italian producer of patented classic and casual footwear Geox has reported a significant increase in sales for the full year ended December 31. Consolidated sales reached 612.3 million, up 35% compared with 2005. Footwear sales increased 34% to represent 94% of sales worth 574 million, whilst apparel sales accounted for 6% of consolidated sales equal to 33.9 million, a 56% increase.

Italy remained the company’s main market for sales, accounting for 41% of footwear sales (49% in 2005) worth 233.9 million, whilst international markets generated 340.1 million of sales. Europe (excluding Italy) generated 46% of footwear sales (41% in the same period of 2005) amounting to 262.5 million.

Geox Shops (franchising and directly-operated stores) recorded significant growth, increasing 46% compared with 2005 and accounting for 26% of overall footwear sales at the end of 2006, whilst multi-brand stores continued to represent the group’s main distribution channel, accounting for 74% of footwear sales compared with 76% in the same period of 2005.
