ABB wins order from Australian Vinyls

Power and automation technology group ABB has won a $3 million order to upgrade the control system at manufacturer and supplier of vinyl (PVC) resin Australian Vinyls Corporation Limited in
The project will involve upgrading the existing control systems with its Industrial IT 800xA with Batch Manager and MOD AC460 controllers. ABB commenced the detailed design engineering of the project at the beginning of 2007 and installation and commissioning is scheduled to in progress by January 2008.
The company’s System 800xA is said to provide a more effective way of achieving measurable productivity and profitability improvements. It extends the scope of traditional control systems to include all automation functions in a single operation and engineering environment. Since its introduction in January 2004, the system has been sold to more than 2,580 customers.
Australian Vinyls produces a range of PVC resin grades and has an annual plant capacity of approximately 130,000 tons. The resin business supplies to a wide range of product applications including footwear, clothing and furniture.
