Kraton opens new Asia Pacific distribution centre

US-based performance polymer producer Kraton Polymers LLC has opened a new distribution centre in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone in Shanghai, China, as the first phase of its plans to create a multi-functional customer service centre. The centre provides both storage and distribution capabilities for styrenic block copolymers and polyisoprene products. This should improve product availability, reduce order lead times by up to five weeks and optimise logistics in the Asia Pacific region.

The second phase will involve a technical centre—which should be operational by April—that will serve customers in the region by providing product testing, quality assurance and customer services. The company will maintain its technical centre in Tsukuba, Japan, to provide technical services and support to the local Japanese market.

The company has production facilities in the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Brazil and Japan.
