SATRA to unveil synthetic material cutting module at SIMAC
SATRA will demonstrate a new synthetic material cutting lay plan module for its successful SATRASumm system at this year’s SIMAC shoe machinery and components exhibition that will be held in
First launched more than 20 years ago, SATRA’s upper material management system is now regularly used in more than 300 member companies.
Its ability to achieve significant savings in leather utilisation has ensured its continuing popularity and, together with the improved consistency of cut components, means that many Western sourcing companies and brands now stipulate its use as standard in their leather supply factories.
In response to the increasing use of synthetic materials by some manufacturers, SATRA has now added an additional module to SATRASumm which enables lay plans to be automatically created, displayed and printed—improving the efficiency of cutting for synthetic upper materials. It is designed to run as a stand-alone system or across local area or wide area networks, linking several production sites.
According to SATRA, the introduction of the system, together with integral training and changes in working methods, can lead to major savings in material utilisation ranging from 5% to 18% of the upper material bill.
