US-based outdoor footwear and apparel brand The Timberland Company has launched a new community-building initiative called The Boroughs Project Through which five artists—representing the five New York City boroughs—have each designed a limited edition Timberland boot.
The boots were unveiled at a launch event in New York, with special guests including Boroughs' artists Atsuko Tanaka, Chris Mendoza and David Ellis and artist and trainer enthusiast Andre Trenier.
The Queens, Manhattan and Bronx designs launched on January 26, with the Staten Island and Brooklyn styles launching on February 26. The company will make a $10,000 donation to each of the five non-profit organisations designated by the artists.
