Vietnam footwear exports withstand EU duties

Despite EU restrictions on Vietnamese shoes, the General Statistics Office of Vietnam has reported that the country exported footwear worth $3.55 billion in 2006 compared with $3 billion in 2005—an increase of 18.3%.
Total Vietnamese exports totalled $39.605 billion versus $32.233 billion in 2005, with leather sector exports reaching $4.045 billion in 2006.
