Dinkie moves production to China

11/01/2007

UK-based footwear components company Dinkie Ltd has revealed that it has moved all of its composite production and 90% of its steel production to
China.

The company has established two separate manufacturing units in China to produce components for stuck-on and direct injection footwear. According to the company, in-house mould making and tooling has helped to reduce response times, particularly in terms of initial sampling.

The company has recently been focusing on the development of its new ’Stealth II’ composite cap, manufactured using advanced composite technology which produces a thinner and lighter cap, with a back edge profile similar to that of steel caps. The strength of the composite has allowed the caps to meet EN, ASTM and CSA standards.

Dinkie has also developed a composite shank that meets the requirements for American fire-fighters’ boots. The shank has already been accepted and specified in the USA, with the first consignments having already been delivered in the latter part of 2006.

The company is also developing a new composite midsole that will meet both the penetration and flex requirements of EN standards, which is expected to be available in early 2007.
