Converse sues Brazilian company over All Star brand

02/01/2007

The Brazilian Supreme Court of Justice has banned Brazilian footwear company All Star Artigos Esportivos Ltda, of Rio de Janeiro, from using the All Star brand on its products—in spite of the fact that it has used the name for the last 30 years—as the brand registration at the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) has been deemed unlawful.

The court ruling followed a lawsuit filed by American company Converse Inc. claiming that it owned the rights to the brand.
