Increased footwear exports offset by drop in component exports

According to figures released by the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the country recorded an increase of 5.3% in leather footwear exports, valued at $269.79 million compared with $256.21 million in the comparable 2005 period, and non-leather footwear grew by 21.09% to $22.75 million from $18.79 million. However, exports of footwear components fell by 0.481% to $65.8 million from $66.12 million.
