Sri Lankan footwear exports rise

According to its Customs department,
Sri Lanka’s footwear exports between January and August totalled $11.02 million compared with $8.49 million in the prior year period, an increase of 29.78%.

Despite this positive growth in footwear,, the country exported leather and leather products worth $14.32 million compared with $18.64 million in the same period in 2005, a decline of 23.18%.

Total exports including leather stood at $4.411 billion compared with $4.050 billion in the 2005January to August period.
