Children’s footwear brand Stride Rite has launched a new athletic line for the autumn. The SuperBall footwear line is the first ever to incorporate SuperBall Zectron technology.

The Wham-O SuperBall was unveiled in
America in 1965. Barely bigger than a cherry, the product was invented by Californian chemist Norman Stingley, who discovered that when rubber is compressed under 3,500 pounds of pressure, you get a supercharged ball with unprecedented resilience. This became known as Zectron technology which resulted in the ‘SuperBall’ by Wham-O. Within six months, the company had sold seven million of these high-bouncing balls.

Stride Rite has incorporated the technology in is new range for added bounce on heel impact.

The shoes also feature highly responsive, multidirectional traction lugs on the sole to give stability even when running. The midsole reduces weight and maximises cushioning from heel to toe and the upper is constructed using ‘high-frequency’ welding for lightweight durability.
