Pakistan's leather sector exports in September were up 0.4% to $68.673 million on the previous month, but fell by 39.43% compared with September 2005. The country’s tanned leather exports amounted to $18.677 million, a drop of 10.94%, and footwear exports to $8.627, a decrease of 8.71%. Leather manufacturing exports, however, reached $41.369 million, a growth of 8.97%.
Pakistan’s total leather sector exports for the July to September period fell by 35.65% to $197.637 million, down from $307.152 million for the quarter a year ago. During the three-month period, tanned leather exports declined by 14.96% in volume and 17.50% in value. Leather manufacturing exports fell by 42.67% and leather footwear by 36.20%.
