Converse has launched its (Product) Red Core Canvas Chuck Taylor All Star collection at Gap. This is the first collaboration between the two companies, who are partners in the Red initiative, an economic plan created by Bono and chairman of DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa) Bobby Shriver designed to deliver a sustainable flow of private sector money to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The Converse collection will be available from October 13 at more than 180 Gap locations in the US following the successful launch in the UK earlier this year. These limited edition shoes are made from canvas fabric in red, black and white colourways. Detailing includes red eyelets symbolically adorning the top of the sneakers and a unique red outline framing the shoes in support of the campaign. 5% of net wholesale sales will go directly to the Global Fund. Additionally, 50% of the profits of Gap's sales of Converse (Product) Red shoes will go directly to the Global Fund.
