Vietnamese footwear and leather goods exports rise

According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, the country exported footwear worth $330 million in August, while total exports during the eight-month period January to August totalled $2.404 billion, up from $1.996 billion in the prior year period, a growth of 20% in value.

Vietnam also exported handbags, wallets, suitcases and umbrellas worth $45 million in August and $337 million in the eight-month period compared with $317 million in the eight-month period in 2005, a growth of 6.3% in value.
