Argentina's footwear industry has been getting results in recent months and representatives reported a successful visit to WSA in Las Vegas, in August. A group of Argentinean manufacturers will be exhibiting their middle and high quality goods at GDS, September 15-17, in Düsseldorf. The same group will also visit MICAM, September 21-24, in Milan, and participate in a design course. The Argentine effort is organised by the Federal Investment Council (CFI) and the Chamber of the Footwear Industry.

According to official data, Argentina's shoe industry invested over $50 million in equipment renovation and factory expansion during 2005. After being absent from the international scene for a decade, the country exported over two million pairs of top-end leather shoes last year and expects to exceed that figure in 2006.
