Record attendance at WSA

11/09/2006
Footwear and accessories trade show WSA welcomed 35,565 participants, exceeding last year’s attendance figures by 7.6%, with buyer delegations for the first time from France and Italy. 105 countries took part, 15 more than in the previous show as a result of the high number of exhibitors.

The French contingent—20 in total—was headed up by the chief executive of the French Footwear Federation François Browne de Kilmaine. The group contained key retailers including the operations director of the French branch of the Garant buying group. Nine representatives from Italy attended, consisting of retailers and wholesalers/distributors from different regions in Italy.

The show attracted 1503 exhibiting companies, a 15% increase in the number of companies compared with August 2005.  The Collections at WSA also experienced growth, with 50% more handbag designers participating compared with the last edition and the men’s footwear category grew 100% over August 2005. Respected designers Nanette Lepore and Karl Lagerfeld unveiled their inaugural footwear collections at the show.

Style Walk, WSA’s first-ever catwalk fashion show, was introduced and Style Talk sessions also attracted a large number of visitors.

The 2007 dates for WSA and The Collections at WSA are February 1-4 and July 30–August 2.
