Footwear manufacturer Okabashi Brands, Inc. has announced a series of environmental initiatives to support energy and resource conservation at its corporate and manufacturing facility in Buford, USA.

Okabashi Brands has instituted several environmental measures including recycling materials and producing vegan-friendly footwear. Okabashi shoes can now comprise up to 15% recycled material. The company generates about 15% regrind of its proprietary Microplast material during production, which can then be recycled back into producing new shoes. Its products are also vegan-friendly and do not contain bio-derived products. It is also making moves to reduce waste by donating surplus inventories to local, national and global causes including the National Odd Shoe Exchange. Furthermore, Okabashi's corporate employees have now started an in-house recycling programme for office paper and plastic garbage.

"For more than 25 years, we have been committed to keeping our manufacturing located in the United States, despite the challenges. We now want to bring that same commitment to making smart decisions and upholding the highest environmental standards when it comes to how we make and distribute our materials and shoes," said Bahman Irvani, president and CEO.
