GoLite Footwear unveils new trail running shoes

10/08/2006

US-based shoe company GoLite Footwear has unveiled its new trail running shoe line. The Timberland Invention Factory engineered the new performance line specifically designed for running on uneven trails. The shoe uses a ‘Soft Against the Ground’ concept that addresses whole body stability.

Inspired by the sport of sky running, or running at altitude, the shoe offers a suspension system which stabilises the foot strike even on trail landscape that varies from step to step. Two variations are available - the Isomorphic Suspension system and the Amorphic Suspension system.

The Isomorphic Suspension system is designed specifically for vertically rugged terrain above the timberline. When met with uneven terrain, the independent springs, or Trail Claws, each react with their own level of displacement. By isolating the uplift, Trail Claws fill the space created by bumpy ground, rather than balancing the foot against a traditional flat and wobbly outsole plate. The result is improved stability.

The Amorphic Suspension system is built directly inside the shoe for enhanced stability and comfort. Internal 'memory foam' encases uneven trail elements and envelops protruding rocks or roots.  The result is heightened traction, improved stability, and greater comfort.

The NEOform seamless upper is a revolutionary sculpted outer casing that protects the foot from bruises and scratches caused by unforeseen obstacles. This ultra-light foam does not absorb water and is said to increase comfort over time.

The PreciseFit system is an adjustable insole system that can be individually customised for a better fit.

The market launch for the new footwear line is set for spring 2007.
