Sales fall at Shoe Carnival in Q2

US footwear and accessories retailer Shoe Carnival, Inc. accessories, has reported lower sales of $146.9 million for the thirteen-week period ended July 29, compared with the $148.7 million reported for the comparable period in 2005.

Comparable store sales decreased 1% for the second quarter of 2006.

On a more positive note, sales for the first six months of 2006 increased 1.9% to $315.4 million from $309.4 million for the first six months of 2005. Comparable store sales increased 1.8% for the twenty-six-week period.

Shoe Carnival is a chain of 265 footwear stores located in the Midwest, South and Southeast USA.
