Belgian footwear group Brantano has reported lower consolidated turnover for the first six months of 2006 at €140.3 million—down 3.8% compared with the first six months of 2005.

Out of the total group turnover of €140.3 million, Belgium (including Luxembourg) accounted for €69 million and the United Kingdom (including the Middle East) €71.3 million, or 50.8%.

According to the company, the decreased turnover in the first quarter was negatively influenced by an extremely cold month in March and by the fact that the Easter holidays fell fully in the second quarter.

Brantano has 281 stores, 124 in Belgium (including Luxembourg), 146 in the United Kingdom and 11 franchise stores in the Middle East.
