Midec offers three focal points for September edition

18/07/2006
The next edition of international footwear fair Midec is to take place in Paris, September 2-4.

The three focal points for the fair will be ‘Imagine – rising stars’, ‘Imagine – en duo’ and ‘Imagine – creative labels.’

Rising stars allows young designers to present new concepts for the footwear industry. Designers in this category include Brazilian Patricia Cruz who designs men’s and women’s shoes for dancing and Naira Agababyan from Moscow who has adapted the long boot from a ‘constructivist and deconstructivist’ point of view to give it a contemporary feel.

The en duo category creates a factory atmosphere, featuring products that speak of developing industrial expertise. Designers include Rosa Mosa & Richter, who combine orthopaedic knowledge and modern design to provide high-quality children’s footwear using natural materials and Philippe Schleret & Kiale, presenting the ‘bijoushoe’, jewelled sandal.

The creative labels category is said to showcase clean structure and neon colours from young established designers looking to develop new contacts. Designers include Plasticana, which offers plastic shoes reinforced with hemp fibres, in biodegradable and 100% recyclable packaging, and Otto et Moi, a feminine Spanish collection inspired by Parisian pastries.
