China renounces EU footwear regulations
Chinese officials have spoken out against EU proposals regarding leather shoes made in the country.

According to the European Commission, the new system would be a long-term replacement for the anti-dumping duties imposed on Chinese and Vietnamese shoe imports at the beginning of April. The plan is for the EU to introduce 23% duties on Chinese leather shoe exports that exceeded the 140 million pairs per year.

As a WTO member, Chinese officials see this system as both unjust and a contravention of trade laws.
