Peruvian shoe exports to grow 32% in 2006

13/06/2006

According to the Peruvian Export Promotion Commission, shoe exports from Peru could increase by 32% compared with last year’s figures, to reach $13 million.

By maximising advantages in the textile sector, media reports suggest that textile footwear exports could add to the leather footwear export industry that is already thriving in certain countries, particularly in Latin America.

These increases are mainly attributable to improvements in design and quality, as well as manufacturing changes.

Latin America and the US are primary targets for exported goods, with the aim of penetrating the European market in the near future.
