Advances in polyurethane shoe sole technology to be unveiled

29/05/2006

Two footwear technical sessions, with ten papers in all, will report on world-wide advances in low density polyurethane (PU) and expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) shoe soles, hydrolysis resistance and processing improvements at the global Polyurethanes 2006 Technical Conference, to be held on September 25-27 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Sponsored by the Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry (API)—part of the American Chemistry Council—the conference will also include related Elastomer and Polyol technical sessions, expert panel discussions on globalisation and energy efficiency issues.

“The importance of polyurethanes to the global footwear industry continues to grow,” said Dick Mericle of API. “Polyurethanes 2006 is offering two separate technical sessions to accommodate all the technological advances being reported in today’s ever-changing economy. Shoe industry decision makers will find several papers of interest in the Elastomer and Polyol technical sessions.”
