Chinese footwear companies move production to Indonesia

According to local media reports, around 50 Chinese shoemakers are to relocate to Indonesia in the near future comprising a possible total investment of around $150 million. The move has been linked to EU anti-dumping legislation enforced in April.

Factories are to be built in Surabaya, Tangerang, Banten and Bandung, and 50,000 new jobs are likely to be created.

As a result, reports suggest that Indonesian imports will increase in value to $1.8 billion from the current $1.5 billion.
