Liberty Shoes expands to meet demand from Nike, Reebok and Wal-Mart

Indian footwear manufacturer Liberty Shoes is to set up a new manufacturing plant, in Roorkee, Uttaranchal, to meet demand from Reebok and Nike in the domestic market and Wal-Mart in the US market.

The new facility will cover 32,000 m2 and will double Liberty’s capacity of 50,000 pairs per day. Production at the new site will commence in November 2007.
Liberty already has established relationships with Nike and Reebok, and is now set to complete its first order from Wal-Mart. The new contract with the American supermarket chain is expected to be worth Rs500 crore ($111.1 million) over the next five years.
