Alpargatas reports rise in Q1 profits
Brazilian footwear manufacturer Alpargatas has reported a 19.8% increase in net profit to R$52.2 million ($25.2 million) in the first quarter of the current year. Net revenue rose 16.8% to R$298.8 million ($145 million) in the same period.
Footwear sales increased 8% to 43.3 million pairs. Exports rose 48% to 4.9 million pairs. The revenue from exports accounted for 9% of total sales, 3% higher than the 6% registered in the same period of last year.
Havaianas sales grew 8.4%.
Alpargatas produces footwear under brand names including Havaianas, Rainha, Topper, Timberland and Mizuno.
