Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch has been invited to create the new spring/summer 2007 shoe and accessory collection for Nine West, a brand owned by America's Jones Apparel Group USA Inc.

The Special Designer Projects introduces creations by invited designers and the items created are then developed and sold at selected Nine West stores and another 40 shops of the Saks Fifth Avenue chain.

Mr Herchcovitch said that the publicity for the new collection is expected to start in November 2006 with a fashion show in New York. He is also hoping to open a shop in the Aoyama district, Tokyo in mid-2007.
