Footwear fall brings India’s leather exports down
India’s exports of leather, leathergoods and footwear brought in just over $1.1 billion in the period from April to June 2026.
The country’s Council for Leather Exports said this represented a fall of 3.7% compared to the same months a year earlier.
Exports of finished leather increased by 3% year on year, reaching $105.8 million. Exports of leather garments grew even more, reaching $100.7 million, an increase of 13.6% year on year.
Exports of leather footwear were the sector’s biggest contributor with a value of $470.4 million, a fall of almost 7%.
