Latin America and Africa matter to Assomac

The president of Assomac, Mauro Bergozza, has said the leather and shoe manufacturing technology developers that make up the organisation’s membership must look to new markets for growth.

He said in the build-up to the 2026 Simac-Tanning Tech exhibition that the market for Assomac members in Asia is weaker, that Europe “is showing greater resilience” and that the picture in the Americas is mixed. But he also pointed out that exports of tanning machinery from Italy to Africa are growing.

Mr Bergozza said the association will, when members gather for the exhibition, seek to explore in depth the best strategies for Italian companies to take in key markets. He added that there would be a particular focus on Latin America and Africa.

Countries represented among the buyers’ delegation and specially invited guests at Simac Tanning Tech will include Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Egypt, Ethiopia, Niger, South Africa, Tunisia and Morocco.

“This is a strategy built around the sector’s needs,” Mr Bergozza said. “Our buyers are decision-makers tasked with evaluating investments that are crucial to the future of their businesses.”
