Appointment celebrates Italy’s importance to Kering

Luxury group Kering is to make Sabina Belli president of its business in Italy. She will take up this new role on September 15.

Ms Belli joined Kering in 2015 as chief executive of its Pomellato jewellery brand. In addition, she took up leadership of the group’s Accademia per le Eccellenze, an initiative dedicated to preserving and promoting Italian craftsmanship and savoir-faire, and fostering new generations of manufacturing talent.

In this new role, Sabina Belli will represent all of Kering’s business in Italy. She will step down as chief executive of Pomellato, but will continue to lead the Accademia per le Eccellenze. She will also help advance initiatives that promote industrial excellence, innovation and sustainability across the luxury value chain, Kering said.

It explained that Italy is “central to Kering’s identity and operations”. More than a quarter of the group’s global workforce is based in Italy, alongside thousands of additional indirect jobs supported through its manufacturing and logistics ecosystem there.

Group chief executive, Luca de Meo, commented: “Italy occupies a unique place in Kering’s history, identity and future. Its creativity, craftsmanship and industrial excellence are at the heart of our houses and the long-term vitality of the luxury industry.”

He said Sabina Belli’s new appointment would strengthen Kering’s long-term commitment to Italy and help amplify the country’s influence on the global luxury industry.
