JLIA to showcase environmental programmes in Paris
Following presentations at the APLF exhibition in Hong Kong in March, the Japan Leather and Leather Goods Industries Association (JLIA) will also be present at the Sustainable Leather Forum in Paris on September 7.
As in Hong Kong, JLIA will use the Paris event to increase awareness in the international leather sector of two of the certification programmes it runs.
The JLIA Sustainable Certification programme offers companies, including tanneries and leathergoods manufacturers, recognition for excellence in areas including environmental management, transparency and respect for human rights.
For its part, the Japan Eco Leather Certification programme addresses environmental and chemical compliance, focusing on areas such as wastewater management, hide traceability and substance limits.
At the Sustainable Leather Forum, JLIA will make it clear that these programmes are open to international companies as well as Japanese manufacturers.
